Revere Fire Leaves 20 Displaced

REVERE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Flames engulfed a building in Revere Wednesday morning in what fire department officials said was the largest fire they've fought all winter.

All 20 residents from all three stories of the Thornton Street building made it out unharmed.

The 911 call first came in as smoke in the building, but Deputy Chief of Operations Jim Cullen told WBZ NewsRadio's Chris Fama that crews soon realized the fire would be more difficult to tame, soon growing to four alarms.

Units from across the area—Boston, Malden, Medford, Lynn, Chelsea, Everett, and MassPort—assisted. The battle took several hours, and the roof of the building collapsed before the fire was under control.
