Health Officials: Potential Hepatitis A Exposure At Rockport Restaurant

ROCKPORT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Health officials are warning customers of a Rockport seafood restaurant about a possible exposure to Hepatitis A from an employee working there.

The potential exposure effects anyone who ate at Roy Moore's Fish Shack in Dock Square in Rockport between April 21 and May 12.

Sharlene Porter, the restaurant's manager, told WBZ NewsRadio they are closed, and hope to open next weekend.

"We're still working with the health department and with everyone trying to figure this out," she said. "We just found out about this this morning, so we're still in the works of figuring out all the details."

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health said that, if you ate cold or uncooked food, you should contact your health care provider and tell them about the possible exposure.

Symptoms include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. The virus can be spread by contaminated food and beverages, along with close person-to-person contact.
