NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A rodeo is looking for a redo in North Attleboro, after some bulls escaped into the town.

Rancho El Milagro hosted a rodeo at the Emerald Square Mall in September 2024, which ultimately ended with eight bulls jumping a fence and running loose in the town. No one was injured in the incident and seven of the bulls were caught within hours.

The last bull was captured the next day, thanks to the help of a drone and some cowboys. A town probe determined the escape was not due to negligence on the rodeo’s part.

“We know that at our past event we had some obstacles but we have put safety measures in place to prevent such thing from happening again. We treat our animals like family and would never harm them. We hope to be able to show our culture and tradition in the future!” said Rancho El Milagro in a statement on social media.

On April 14, representatives of Rancho El Milagro approached the North Attleboro Town Council (NATC) about bringing a rodeo back on June 15, but did not provide a targeted location for the event. According to the Sun Chronicle, NATC President Justin Pare and Town Manager Michael Borg referred them to the town’s special events working group.

WBZ NewsRadio’s Chris Fama asked residents whether they would support a return of the rodeo.

“We were just talking bout it the other day,” one resident. “They should come back.”

“I think it would be fun if they brought it back. That would be cool, [but] if I was a town leader, after what happened last time, I’d probably get rid of it,” said another resident.

“If it came back, I’d go,” said another resident.

“I have not been to a rodeo. If they have one again, I would go,” said another resident.
