BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Many athletes who raced in the Boston Marathon on Monday were easy to spot at Logan Airport the following morning.

Whether limping, or decked out in marathon gear, or both, thousands of runners who participated in the 129th running of the marathon were heading home.

One of the big takeaways for many of the runners was the power of the crowd.

"It's something you can't put into words," said Kimberly of Kansas City. This was her 15th time completing the Boston Marathon.

"You just have to experience it to really understand why the pull of Boston just keeps bringing me back,” said added.

David from Atlanta ran in his third Boston Marathon.

He said the Boston crowd is second to none.

"It's the best crowd, 26 miles of people cheering you on. It's historic. It's such a great event."

Beautiful weather and some of the top marathoners in the world brought out a big crowd of hundreds of thousands of people who cheered on competitive races and saw some course records shattered.

Race organizers said about 30,000 people ran in the Boston Marathon this year.

It included participants from all 50 states and 128 countries.
