NEWTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A new bucket-sized coffee that is larger than your average venti drink has been making its way around the Commonwealth.

Massive, eye-catching coffee containers have been popping up all over TikTok, with one local example being the iced coffee bucket from Sandwich Works in Newton.

The sandwich shop began selling this $8, 52-ounce caffeinated drink back in June, with a giant straw to match it. Owner Jeffery Dabonee saying that they have sold around 6 of them a day since its introduction. Most of these sales are return customers, with the occasional new buyer interested in the maximalist option.

“People need more, they need a lift, they need help, they need to make it to the weekend,” Dabonee said. “Even people who don’t buy it look at it and are like, ‘wow, that’s great.’”

He explained that one major downside to the unorthodox container is that it doesn’t fit into the average car cupholder, although he thinks it's great for building sandcastles on the beach.

As for transportation, each bucket is outfitted with a screw-on lid and a handle, which Dabonee felt was the most ideal way to carry the drink.

“It’s hard to carry otherwise, it’s a lot easier with the handle,” he said. “It’s kind of like a pocketbook full of coffee.”
