WILMINGTON, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — People are finding more than groceries in the aisles at the Market Basket grocery store in Wilmington

Some say that there’s a ghost hanging out in the store.

Yes, a ghost. Shoppers who frequent the store on Main Street have described seeing a woman in a Victorian era white dress.

The comments in a local community group for the town and on the WBZ NewsRadio Facebook pages describing the ghost sightings are taking on a life, or in this case, and after life of their own.

Customers Concerned About 'Creepy' Grocery Store Robot

An autonomous, spill detecting robot is being met with mixed reviews by customers at Stop and Shop supermarkets around Massachusetts.

“A lot of people post about it, so it’s interesting to see the comments,” said Jacqueline who shops there now maybe more frequently now that there is talk that the store is possibly haunted.

“I do back on a regular basis to see if I can see anything myself,” she said.

And while Jacqueline said she’s not seen the so called ghost, she tells she senses the apparition whenever she is shopping.

“I do believe it could very well be real,” she said.

In a statement to WBZ NewsRadio Market Basket spokesperson Justine Griffin said if there is a ghost, she’s likely just a frugal shopper.

“As far as we know all of our stores are ghost-free. But if there’s anything to it, she’s probably attracted to our Victorian-era prices,” Griffin said.
