BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MBTA Green Line D Branch is shut down between Riverside and Kenmore through Oct. 31 for track and infrastructure work. Shuttle buses are replacing service.
“They’re on time, they run, so I can live with it,” one MBTA rider said.
The D Branch service has been closed since the weekend but Monday marks the first day without weekday service. Some riders praised the shuttle buses.
“They’re better than the T honesty, it’s cleaner,” another rider said.
This is the first of three significant closures on the Green Line this month. The closure is due to the installation of a protection system on the train line.
“I started taking this every day about 3-4 years ago and it’s getting better each year honestly,” one commuter said.
“I think it’s been reliable, it’s pretty good. They did a good job,” a Newton resident and MBTA commuter said.
A separate, future shutdown is scheduled for No. 4-16, affecting the Green Line B and C branches between Park Street and Union Square/Medford/Tufts for track and infrastructure work.
