BOSTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Mayor Michelle Wu declared a heat emergency for the City of Boston Monday through Wednesday during this sweltering summer, but that hasn’t stopped the Snowport Holiday Market from announcing when it will light up the Seaport for a fifth season.
The market kicks off Nov. 7 to Dec. 28 with over 130 local small businesses, according to a press release. Many of the businesses are minority and/or female-founded, and over a third of makers are city locals. The market will also feature both new and returning experiences such as the Winter Wish Wall by Mass General Brigham Health Plan, The Warming Tent by JetBlue and The Stage by Mohegan Sun, according to the release.
“Small businesses power our economy, our daily lives, and our communities, and for many of them, the holiday season isn’t just busy, it is critical to their success,” Smita Wadhawan, chief marketing officer at Constant Contact, said in a statement.
Constant Contact, a digital marketing platform presenting the annual pop-up event, is part of a joint initiative sponsoring the Snowport Scholarship program that was launched last year. Businesses, such as African Authentics, Element Oasis and Creation Jute, are among the 12 recipients selected.
The program aims to help underserved entrepreneurs thrive through financial and educational support, according to the release.
“We are proud to support the small businesses here in Boston,” Wadhawan said.
