BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A week of intense news stories has created an atmosphere of stress for many on their social media feeds.
Stories such as the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk, the school shooting at Evergreen High School in Colorado and the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks have all come within the span of a week.
This has tempted some to put their phones down and take a break from social media, such as Northeastern University student Alicia.
“I thought that maybe it’s time to take a step back,” Alicia told WBZ NewsRadio Friday. “I couldn’t focus on my work.”
Emerson College students Harrison and Trevor said their phones are on lock unless it is to do mandatory schoolwork.
“[I want to] see how long I can take with being away from it,” said Trevor.
However, the fear of missing out has made it hard for some to completely log off and disconnect.
“I have been tempted to deactivate my account,” said Harrison. “It sucks though, ‘cause everyone’s on there.”
