BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Small Victories in South Boston relished in all things pickle to celebrate National Pickle Day Friday.

Executive chef Scott Jensen told WBZ NewsRadio that his love for the side dish inspired him to throw an all-out party for the special day.

“There’s always a jar in my fridge,” he said. “There’s always more pickle than there is juice. We’re constantly drinking the juice.”

The bar partnered with Grillo’s Pickles to offer some dill-ecious food and cocktails, including the pickle margarita, ‘Pickalus Cage,’ and ‘Pickle-tini.’

“They bring a beautiful balance of brightness and some acidity to dishes,” he said. “It’s a great way to wash out your palette after taking a shot of whiskey.”

Dozens of pickle fans showed up for a taste of these specialty menu items.

“We are known for our ‘Pickleback shots’,” Jensen added. “That is our bread and butter, no pun intended.”

There was also a photo booth and claw machine filled with themed prizes.

“If more people celebrated pickle day, the world would be a better place,” Jensen said.
