TOPSFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Topsfield Fair is full steam ahead, and despite the blustery conditions and potential threats.
"The game plan is to proceed, you know, as normal." spokesperson David Thompson said.
According to officials, shortly after 7:00 a.m., a suspect called the police and said they had information about a potential threat. Officers were able to find that person and transport them to a hospital.
"We followed all of our standard protocols, and the fairgrounds were swept completely and the fair was deemed safe," Thompson explained.
A Nor'easter working its way up the East Coast is not expected to put a damper on the Topsfield Fair's final weekend. Thompson said there's plenty of inside festivities here like the demolition derby, barn animal pens, floral exhibits, and blacksmith classes.

"We have plenty of buildings on the fairground, so people can come and enjoy. We have lots of hot tops, so that way people aren't working about mud and all of that, pushing strollers through mud," Thompson said. "And then tomorrow we also have the demolition derby and the figure eight races, which are in the arena, obviously inside. And those are big events that people are going to come to rain or shine."
Attendees can look forward to a record-breaking giant pumpkin, hot dog eating contest, big old turkeys, buckets of ice coffee, deep fried clam chowder and still catch a catch a ride on the Pharaohs, Fury, Exodus and the Arctic Blast.
"I definitely want to go on the zipper because I haven't done it yet, and I've seen a bunch of videos on of it on TikTok," one attendee said.
