SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — One local veterinary business in Somerville is getting ready for a “purr-fect” event set to bring together friendly felines and their owners.
Tandem Vet Care in Somerville is spreading the word about their upcoming “Cat Tour”, which is a walking tour through neighborhoods in Somerville that will showcase the cats who live there.
“Think of a holiday lights tour, where you go around and you see everybody who’s put up their fun Christmas decorations, but it’s your cats,” said Elizabeth Bisio, the head of product and operations at Tandem.
People who get tickets for the event will be able to walk by participating cat owners homes, see the cats and learn more about them through a sign displayed in their yard that will include information about the pet.
Bisio explained the reasoning for putting on the tour saying, “Because [cats are] often kind of the forgotten pets in clinic.”
This event plans to show all the love to cats as Bisio highlighted that the upcoming event is a perfect way to showcase people’s pets while also being a great opportunity for cat owners to meet one another.
“It’s a really great way for people to get out in the community, meet other cat lovers and get to show off your cats,” she said. “I think my cat’s the cutest and I think most people do to, so how great to kind of share them with the world,” she continued.
The walk will take place in a 1-mile radius of the Somerville Market Basket and the money raised will go to the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association.
Tickets for the event are free, but there is a suggested donation of $5.
The tour is set to take place on Saturday Nov. 22nd from 1-3p.m. and registration is open until the day of the tour.
