TAUNTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – Authorities in Taunton are searching for a suspected arsonist who set a string of fires overnight.
Firefighters first responded to Silver City Gas on Weir Street for a truck fire around 11:30 p.m., and were then called to a nearby basement fire just after midnight.
While responding to the basement fire, a couch next-door went up in flames, a deck caught fire, and construction materials burned in what investigators consider separate suspicious incidents.
One man was detained early Thursday morning but released due to lack of evidence.
