WORCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 14-year-old girl has died after being hit by an MBTA commuter rail train in Worcester, Transit Police said Friday.
According to Transit Police, the girl was among a group of children trespassing on the Framingham/Worcester Line near Atlas Street Thursday night.
Transit Police detectives and the Worcester County District Attorney's office are investigating, though foul play is not suspected.
"On behalf of the Transit Police and the entire MBTA organization we offer our most heartfelt condolences to the decedent's family and friends," Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this most unimaginable difficult and profound tragedy."
