BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- We all remember Malcolm Butler's Super Bowl benching last month. It's still painful for many Patriots fans, and the loss to the Eagles still hurts owner Robert Kraft.

He said at the NFL owners meetings he's still not over the defeat, and he's sorry Butler moved on to Tennessee in free agency, but he's happy for him and thankful for his time in New England.

Malcolm Butler Issues Statement On Being Sidelined At Super Bowl

The New England Patriots cornerback issued a statement following the Super Bowl LII on why he was benched.

Kraft also made one thing crystal clear: Bill Belichick is the best coach in league history, and he has his unwavering support.

"I don't think there's anyone who has the football knowledge and expertise combined with understanding personnel," Kraft said. "He's done pretty well for us over the last 18 years. As a fan, I can question some of the moves. As someone who's privileged to be the owner of this team, I encourage him to keep going with his instincts and doing what he thinks is right. There's no doubt in my mind, even if he made an error, if they're doing it for the right reason, then I support it 100 percent. And I've never had one instance where Bill hasn't done what he believes is in the best interest of our team and helps us win games."

In Bill We Trust--at the highest level.
