Fmr. English High Dean Found Guilty Of Trying To Kill Student

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- A former Boston English High School dean was found guilty of trying to kill a student he had recruited to sell drugs.

Shaun Harrison was convicted of several charges, including armed assault with intent to murder. Prosecutors alleged he shot his former student Luis Rodriguez, then 17 years old, in the back of the head in March 2015. Rodriguez testified about the shooting and his recovery last week:

The former student also told a Suffolk Superior courtroom Friday that the then-adminsitrative dean gave him marijuana to sell, and tried to kill him when he didn't sell enough of it.

Closing arguments in the trial were made on Wednesday. Prosecutors painted Harrison as a drug dealer living a lie--pretending to help kids while in fact using them as part of his drug-selling operation; Harrison's defense tried to argue there wasn't enough evidence to convict. Jurors deliberated for just a few hours.

Harrison is facing a maximum sentence of 20 years for the assault with intent to murder charge. Sentencing will take place Friday morning.
