BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- "We went 1 for 23 with men in scoring positions," Red Sox skipper Alex Cora said. "That's the story of the whole series. We had our chances, we didn't take advantage of it, and we lost the series."

Actually, it was a bit worse.

Red Sox went 1-for-26 with runners in scoring position in their series loss to the White Sox, capped by a 1-for-11 showing in yesterday's 5-2 setback at Fenway.

It's been particularly ugly the last four games. Boston went 2-for-37 with men on second or third, which is very uncharacteristic.

Sox Not Eager For Long Road Trip

The Red Sox are coming off a disappointing homestand, so they'll hope for more success on the road over the next couple weeks.

Even with those almost hollow numbers, the club's still batting .278 with runners in scoring position--the second-best in baseball, with an MLB-high 232 RBI in those spots.

Conversely, Baltimore's 28th with a .221 average with runners in scoring position, so hopefully that cheers you up some because the Sox will face the Orioles tonight at 7:05 p.m. to open a 10-game road trip.

Steven Wright will take the mound opposite Dylan Bundy.

Both righties are coming off impressive outings, but Wright has a 5-68 E-R-A in seven lifetime appearances against the O's, and Bundy's posted a 4-79 mark in 14 outings versus the Sox.
