Crews Are At Buzzards Bay At The Scene Of A Mile Long Oil Spill

MATTAPOISETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Crews are at Buzzards Bay at the scene of an oil spill.

Crews are at the scene "assessing an oil sheen" that they discovered on Sunday morning, the U.S. Coast Guard Northeast confirmed to WBZ's Tim Dunn.

The oil sheen was seen in the water about 1 mile long and 100 feet wide.

"It has been deemed unrecoverable and [authorities] are letting it dissipate," WBZ's Tim Dunn reported.

The source of the spill is unknown at this time.
