WESTWOOD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Westwood High School seniors boarded the school bus one more time to say goodbye to a piece of their past.

On Friday, the 2023 Westwood senior class took a trip down memory lane to visit their old elementary schools, and for some, it will be the last.

Two of Westwood's five elementary schools, the Hanlon and Deerfield schools, are shutting their doors next year to make way for Pine Hill Elementary School, a brand-new elementary school.

"We have two schools that are closing during next school year and so we want our seniors to be able to go to that school for what will be the last time," Dean of Students Aishleen Flannagan told WBZ's Suzanne Sausville.

The high school seniors were greeted by cheering students, teachers, and staff at each elementary school on the "farewell tour."

"It's a nice feeling to like get closure and like see how to school's changed almost like a reflection on how I've changed over the course of middle school, high school," said Scott, a graduating senior.

At the end of the tour, the senior class headed back to Westwood High School for a Class Day Awards Ceremony.
