Smithfield Deputy Fire Chief Steve Quattrini said one woman was pinned between the Volvo and the wall, and that it took 30 minutes to remove the woman. An employee at Planet Fitness who was close to the proximity of the wall at the time of the crash was also injured, Quattrini said.

Before driving into the Subway, the Volvo smashed into another vehicle in the parking lot, injuring another person, Quattrini added.

The driver of the Volvo was injured and transported to Miriam Hospital. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, though Quattrini said it appears the Volvo was traveling at a high rate of speed in the parking lot before the crash.
