SCITUATE (WBZNewsRadio) - A $5 gourmet lunch from the Scituate Senior Center is dubbed the 'hottest ticket in town'.

The meals are prepared by an executive chef with years of experience working in South Shore restaurants. Retired chef, Fred Willette works four days a week at the senior center at 333 First Parish Road. His noontime meals are served Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, the Cafe Window is open for seniors to pick up leftover dishes and desserts.

"When we initially started we thought we would be doing about 20 people for lunch on a regular basis. Now it's 50 person range with a waiting list." Willette tells WBZ's Brooke McCarthy.

"It's an opportunity to serve people who might otherwise not have the possibility of having a good hot lunch." Willette said.

It isn't just seniors in Scituate enjoying the meals, senior citizens from other towns including Norwell, Marshfield, Cohasset and Hingham all filing into grab a plate of delicious food.

Reservations for the senior center lunch program are required at least two days or up to two weeks in advance and can be made by calling 781-545-8722 and press 0 or follow the prompts to the front desk.
