QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's national dougnut day, and local shops are handing out sweet treats.
WBZ's James Rojas spread the love in Quincy this morning, passing out a box of assorted goodness from the original Dunkin.
Dunkin is handing out a free doughnut for customers who buy a drink today, and customers have been lining up to take advantage of the deal.
Workers at the O.G. Dunkin say today is like their Superbowl.
"We got more doughnuts back there today than we probably see in six months," one worker said.
"We try to prepare ourselves," said another employee. "We do not want to run out for anyone."
Whether people are indulging in plain glazed, strawberry frosted, or whatever their heart desires, it's certainly a special occasion for doughnut lovers.
Other local doughnut chains are getting in on the fun, of course. Blackbird Doughnuts is holding a social media giveaway. Kane's is holding a giveaway as well, and also handing out free coffees with the purchase of a dozen doughnuts.
Wherever you go, act fast, because the doughnuts are expected to fly off the shelves.
