TAUNTON, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - Taunton Police have now charged a juvenile following a string of homophobic and racist vandalism at a home and synagogue earlier this month.

Officers responded to a home on Everett Street on Friday, June 16, around 3:30 p.m. Authorities discovered spray-painted messages they said were homophobic and racist.

While at the home on Everett Street, the Taunton Police department got two more calls about vandalism. One incident was reported at Congregation Agudath Achim of Greater Taunton, on Winthrop Street, where officers discovered a swastika, along with more hateful graffiti on the side of the synagogue.

The 15-year-old from Taunton is charged with property damage to intimidate, malicious destruction to a motor vehicle and two counts of vandalizing property. He is expected to be summonsed to appear at Taunton Juvenile Court in the coming weeks.
