BELLINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The driver of a tractor-trailer unit is in critical condition after the large vehicle slammed into a home in Bellingham, causing major damage. Hartford Avenue between North Main and Depot Streets were closed for hours.
Authorities said a tractor-trailer was heading east when it hit a home on Hartford Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning. The home was vacant at the time of the crash.
The driver of the truck was still in the truck after the crash and had to be flown to a hospital via MedFlight in critical condition. Police said there was a dog in the truck at the time, but the animal is okay and currently with local animal control.
No word on what led up to the crash but at this point, authorities said they do not believe speed to be a factor.
