Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is seeking to reinstate six criminal charges against former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants in the 2020 election case. The charges were dismissed earlier this year by Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee, who stated that Willis failed to provide sufficient detail in the allegations. Willis has now filed a brief to the Georgia Court of Appeals, requesting the reversal of McAfee's decision.

The charges in question relate to allegations that Trump and his co-defendants illegally urged Georgia officials to violate their oaths of office by convening a special session of the Legislature to appoint pro-Trump electors. The defendants include former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, and attorneys John Eastman, Ray Smith, and Bob Cheeley.

In her brief, Willis argued that the indictment against Trump and others provided ample information for the defendants to prepare their case.

"The indictment included an abundance of context and factual allegations about the solicitations at issue," Willis wrote in the brief submitted Tuesday (October 15), according to CNN.

The case has been on hold since June, when the Court of Appeals agreed to consider whether Willis should be removed from the case entirely due to alleged conflicts related to her romantic relationship with her former special prosecutor. The Court of Appeals has scheduled arguments for that on December 5, and a decision must be issued by the end of March.
