BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio 1030) — An Air Quality Alert is in effect until midnight tonight.

Officials are warning anyone with sensitivity to air quality or other breathing-related issues should limit time outdoors, if possible.

Smoke from Canadian wildfires has been sparking hazy skies and a strong smell at times across the region since last month.

This latest round of smoke is coming from fires burning in Ontario and Quebec. Forecasters say unlike what we had back in May, this smoke is hanging lower to the surface and is even more noticeable than previous haze.

Not a bad day today weather-wise. Forecasters calling for temperatures in the 70s with partly cloudy skies, and chances of showers and an isolated thunderstorm.
