Cambridge Considering Shutting Down Indoor Dining

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – The city of Cambridge is considering suspending indoor dining.

The City Council moved to have the City Manager talk to neighboring communities and possibly come up with some indoor dining restrictions.

Councillor Marc McGovern cautioned the city against closing down indoor dining without thinking about the consequences.

“This is going to really ruin their lives in a lot of ways. I’m not saying we don’t have to do it, because we may get to that point, but let’s not downplay what we’re talking about here,” he said.

The measure approved by the Council last night also calls on the City Manager to come up with a financial relief plan to help restaurants if they need to close.
