EVERETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — About 1,400 workers at the Encore Boston Harbor Resort and Casino in Everett appear to have a contract deal, likely averting a strike with a day to spare.

Bargaining between UNITE HERE Local 26, Teamsters Local 25 and Encore management began Wednesday at around midday and ended late at around midnight, according to UNITE HERE Spokeswoman Lynette Ng.

Members will vote on the new contract on Friday.

The unions are keeping the exact details of the contract under wraps until it is ratified, but a statement from UNITE HERE Local 26 said the new deal "achieves all of the union’s goals for a Five-Star Contract, with five-star wages, excellent benefits, and job security."

The strike deadline had been midnight on June 30th, but that deadline is now suspended.

"We are glad that a strike will be avoided and that a spirit of partnership has prevailed," said local union President Carlos Aramayo.

"Our achievement of this goal reflects our commitment to ensuring Encore Boston Harbor is one of the region's best places to work," a statement from the casino said.
