FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A new film festival is coming to Framingham, Mass.

Access Framingham is now accepting submissions for their first-ever Access Film Festival, giving local filmmakers the chance to celebrate their work. Organizer Diana Porter is excited to bring a film festival to the area.

“A lot of people locally had mentioned to me wanting a film festival in MetroWest,” said Porter.

The festival will feature new films, workshops and networking events, something organizer Michael Neel said is very important to the creation process.

“You’re not just going to run into a filmmaker at a bar, you know. You need a central place to go and film festivals are amazing. I’ve met so many collaborators there,” said Neel.

Those looking to submit a film to the festival must provide a complete, high-resolution project that is less than 20 minutes in length. With more than 10 awards up for grabs, Neel said to expect the unexpected.

“You don’t know who you’re going to meet there, or what kind of film you’re going to end up with and that’s really the goal,” said Neel.

The submission deadline is on July 5 and the festival will take place on Nov. 9.
