NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — This is no fairy tale story for one mother goose in Natick.

Visitors to the Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Natick have spotted a goose with an arrow protruding from her chest.

The goose was captured on camera with her goslings, but so far Mass Audubon workers have been unable to get ahold of the wounded creature themselves.

"It’s really impossible to know the details behind it because we don’t know when it was shot or where it was shot," Mass Audubon's Aaron Gouveia told WBZ NewsRadio. "It’s obviously unfortunate."

Gouveia noted that since geese molt their flight feathers during the summer, the next few weeks should give staff a better chance at catching and treating the animal. In the meantime, visitors are urged not to bother the goose if they see her.

"This goose has goslings, so it’s really important that people leave it alone, don’t draw attention to it, and let MassWildlife and their experts come in and assess the situation," Gouveia said.
