CANTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — As the United Auto Worker’s strike against Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis continues through its second week, President Biden joined a Michigan picket line Tuesday.

The leader of the United Automobile Workers union Shawn Fain invited the president to Michigan, but turned down the opportunity to meet with Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump who was in Michigan on Wednesday.

Meanwhile the strike’s economic impacts are starting to ripple through the Big Three’s vast supply base.

The owner of Canton’s New England Motors Pre-Owned Cars Mohammad Ahmad said he’s starting to see dealerships buying up more inventory concerned that there’s going to be a car shortage down the line.

“Seems like everyone’s afraid of that, so everybody is trying to stock up,” he said. “We’ve bought a bunch of cars the past week and a half, and we never wanted this strike, but we’ll see what happens.”
