LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Phoenix Food Hub in downtown Lynn was recognized for its innovative programs and commendable work. WBZ’s Carl Stevens was at the recognition event and spoke with Program Coordinator Eunice Lopez on what that work is and why it matters.

“[To] provide various resources for the community, not just for food but connecting them to other resources that they may require,” said Lopez.

The Mass.Municipal Association gave Lynn its Municipal Innovation Award because of the Phoenix Food Hub which provides a plethora of services to those in need such as nutrition-based education, along with cooking classes and access to social services, according to MMA (Massachusetts Municipal Association) website.

Lopez also mentioned that the services of the Phoenix Food Hub extend beyond to those in need.

“Regardless of your background, income, or citizenship status, [the hub] is designed for everyone,” added Lopez.
