SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The owners of an upcoming pub in Swampscott are calling on residents to help them decorate.

The Ingemi family, owners of the Village Tavern in Salem, Massachusetts, is hoping to open the Dockside Pub this September, directly across from the waters of Nahant Bay.

To accentuate the seaside theme of the work-in-progress restaurant at 286 Humphrey St., the family is asking local residents to drop off any old oars or buoys to decorate the building's exterior.

"If there are any in your backyard or under your porch, any oars or buoys that you may not be using, taking up space in your garage, we would love to put them on the sides of our seaside pub here," co-owner Andrew Ingemi told WBZ NewsRadio Wednesday.

Andrew said while they have already collected a small pile of oars and buoys, they are hoping for many more; not only to properly adorn the restaurant, but to strengthen the sense of community with the people of Swampscott.

"It brings the whole town together," Andrew said. "That’s my goal for this pub is to bring the town together: kids, families, adults, and everybody."
