Police Arrest Suspect In Dorchester Shooting

DORCHESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man was arrested on Friday in connection with a shooting in Dorchester earlier in the week, police said.

Boston Police said they responded to the area of Dorchester Avenue and Ashmont Street on Sunday, March 24 for a report of a person shot. Prior to the report, there were two separate shot spotter activations in the area of 567 Talbot Ave.

Police said they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Friday, police arrested 27-year-old Irvin Woods of Dorchester on firearms charges. According to officials, Woods was wanted on a warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and open container of alcohol.

Woods is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
