Thousands Out Of Power In Waltham After Possible Surge

WALTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Thousands of people are out of power in Waltham after an apparent power surge on Monday morning. Power outages peaked at about 6,500 customers in the dark at about 9:30 a.m.

About 2,200 were out of power in neighboring Newton at the peak.

Multiple fires were reported all across the city on Monday morning. Several were multiple-alarm fires, requiring coverage from other departments like Belmont and Cambridge.

Eversource estimated that the lights would be back on in most of the city by 12:30 p.m., according to their website.
