WORCHESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Friday was World Smile Day and Worchester residents gave the world another reason to smile.

Dentsply Sirona and Smile Train, a charity focused on providing corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palates, attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the largest online album of smiling mouths. Guinness World Record Adjudicator Michael Empric went to Worchester to verify the results.

“For largest online photo album of mouths, the mark to beat was 20,000 photos,” said Empric to a crowd of eagerly awaiting participants. “With 21, 274 photos, it’s a new Guinness World Records Title.”

In honor of breaking the world record, Dentsply Sirona donated $120,000 to Smile Train, helping to continue the mission of bringing smiles to more faces.

Worchester also hosted a World Smile Day event during the day at Elm Park and the 22nd Annual Harvey Ball Friday night.
