An Employee Dies After A Fire Breaks Out In Medford Commercial Building

MEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — One employee was left fatally injured after a fire broke out in a commercial building in Medford on Sunday.

At around 4:20 A.M., Medford Emergency Communications Center got reports of a fire in the area of Mystic Avenue in Medford. Medford Police and firefighters discovered Eastern Tool Corporation, located at 58 Swan Street, was a blaze, according to Medford Fire.

After arriving on the scene, officers were informed that an employee had been sleeping inside when the fire broke out. Firefighters found the man inside a bathroom and started to perform life-saving measures, officials said.

The man was then transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he later died of his injuries. The medical examiner's office is working to identify the man and determine what caused his death, Medford Fire said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The incident is currently under investigation.
