Bluebikes Announces Prices Are Going Up Because Of Boston Expansion

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The price to rent a Blue Bike is going up next month.

Bluebikes said it's increasing membership prices to "support system expansion in the Boston area" on April 11.

An annual membership is currently $10.75 a month or $129 a year when paid in full. The membership price is increasing to $133.50.

A monthly membership is going up from $29 a month to $30.50 a month.

There will not be any changes to income eligible memberships or Boston passes.

Single trip rides will now be $0.25 per minute instead of $4 per additional 30 minutes. Bluebikes members who ride for over 45 minutes will be charged $0.10 per minute instead of $2.50 per additional 30 minutes.

Income eligible rides over 60 minutes will now be $0.07 a min instead of $2.00 per additional 30 minutes.

E-bike prices per minute will not be changing.
