BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The granddaughter of a two-time Boston Marathon winner is on a quest to piece together her grandfather's legacy.
Anna Brown Jackson, the granddaughter of Tarzan Brown, never knew growing up that her grandfather was a Boston Marathon winner in 1936 and 1939.
"I never saw him running, I heard the stories, I had heard that he was very fast," Jackson told WBZ's Suzanne Sauville.
She said her grandfather was a Narragansett Indian and faced discrimination making it hard for him to find a job. Brown sold his winning trophies and medals to provide for his family.

"During that time he had four young children and a wife and they lived in a two-room shack," Jackson said.
Jackson is trying to track down the current owners of the trophies and medals to get them back and keep his memory alive.
"We don't want to sell them or anything else we would just like to keep them to have something that's a part of him," Jackson said.
Jackson is hopeful the owner will donate them to her and her family.
