BRAINTREE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Braintree Police are looking for a new home for one four-legged friend.
Louie, a pitbull mix, has recently been staying at the Braintree Police Station but is looking for his own forever home.
"We are looking for the right person or family to give Louie a permanent home. Weighing in at about 85 lbs. Louie is considered a gentle giant. He has met many, many new people in the past two weeks and has done very well meeting new dogs. He lived with a cat, according to his previous owner. Louie has done well on leash, has not displayed any aggressive behaviors, and didn’t mind his first bath one bit!" Braintree Police wrote on Facebook.
Two weeks ago, officers got reports of someone overdosing at a local hotel. After taking the victim to the hospital for treatment, officers went with the victim's mother to pick up her belongings and discovered Louie.
The victim's mother couldn't take care of him and with his owner in the hospital, he had limited options. Louie was then turned over to Braintree's animal control until he can find a forever home.
"Louie has worked closely with ACO Littlewood and Officer Horigan learning basic commands, socializing with people and dogs, and taking car rides. He has even kept the dispatchers company throughout the day and greeted Officers after roll call. However, this is not a long-term solution for Louie, he deserves a home to call his own," Braintree Police said.
Those interested in adopting Louis can contact Officer Horigan (Chorigan@braintreema.gov) or ACO Littlewood (Dlittlewood@braintreema.gov).
