BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A three-course meal with a twist... you cook it yourself.

At Seaport Hotel's Action Kitchen guests learn how to cook three-course meals in a professional kitchen from award-winning chefs. Attendees drink wine, listen to music, and socialize while they learn how to make a variety of meals from a menu crafted by world-class chefs.

"One appetizer could be warm goat cheese salad, could be a pasta, and then there's two entrees, beef and maybe a fish, and then there's a dessert," Chef Richard Rayment told WBZ's Suzanne Sausville who got behind the counter for a class of her own. With Chef Rayment's expertise, Sausville made herbed salmon and mashed potatoes with a white wine garlic sauce.

Action Kitchen also offers Iron Chef-style cooking competitions called Creative Cookoff. Guests are split into teams and given a basket full of identical ingredients. Each team then plans and prepares their dishes alongside a chef.

"They come up with their own dishes and people do get very very competitive and then we judge it at the end for taste, presentation," said Chef Rayment.

While Action Kitchen is a unique way to throw a party, it also gives guests cooking skills they can bring home and use in their own kitchens.

"It's a learning experience, it is a kind of team-building experience," said Chef Rayment.
