Dorchester Teenager Killed In Moped Crash With Dump Truck Identified

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Dorchester teenager that was killed in a moped accident on Tuesday morning has been identified.

The young man is identified as 17-year-old Rakeem Akile Austin of Dorchester.

Austin was driving a moped with another passenger in the direction of Dedham when it collided with a dump truck. Police got reports of the incident at around 11:15 a.m. on Washington Street, near the West Roxbury Line, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey's office said in a statement.

When police arrived on the scene they discovered Austin with "obvious trauma," said D.A. Michael Morrissey's office.

Austin was transported to Faulkner Hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

The dump truck driver stayed on the scene and spoke with police.

The incident is under investigation. No other information is known at this time.
