SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Everett High School held onto its title as turkey-tossing champion at Kiss 108's annual Turkey Toss on Wednesday after the first-ever "toss-off."

Athletes from high schools around New England threw frozen fowl in the air to teammates as they tried to win the title.

"I just kept my elbows tucked and came down with the turkey," one turkey tosser told WBZ's Shari Small. "We did practice a little bit, we practiced a few times this morning."

Participating athletes were in teams of two, one student as a thrower, while the other a catcher. The thrower hurled frozen turkeys weighing about 20 pounds backward overhead to their catcher. Throwers tried to toss it as far as possible to their teammate without letting the bird touch the ground.

Everett High Schoolers, Jayden Biggi and Darrion Green, were the 2021 Turkey Toss champions.
