Fitchburg Pedestrian Crash Leaves One Man Dead

FITCHBURG, Mass. (WBZ News Radio) — Fitchburg Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on Friday night.

Police said a 76-year-old man was walking in a crosswalk around 8:45 p.m. in the area of Water and Nichols Street in Fitchburg when he was struck by a vehicle.

The man was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester where he was later pronounced dead, State Police said.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene.

It was determined the man was struck in Fitchburg, as the four-way intersection where the incident occurred is where Leominster and Fitchburg meet.

The man's identity is not being released at this time.

Fitchburg Police, Leominster Police, and Massachusetts State Police detectives are investigating.
