FRANKLIN, New Hampshire. (WBZ NewsRadio) — After an hours-long search, a Franklin, New Hampshire man was found dead after fatally shooting his partner and their young child, said the New Hampshire attorney general's office.

Police got reports from neighbors that they heard gunshots at 124 Elkins Street just after noon on Saturday. Attorney General John Formella's office said when police arrived, they found Nicole Hughes and her infant daughter, Ariella Bell, dead from gunshot wounds.

Hughes' 5-year-old daughter was also found alive with a gunshot wound in her arm and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Police identified 42-year-old Jamie Bell as a suspect. New Hampshire AG's office said that Bell and Hughes were partners and parents to Ariella.

While police searched for Bell, residents were asked to stay inside since officials believed Bell was armed and dangerous. He was seen leaving the Elkins Street home on foot, officials said.

After searching for hours, at around 5:30 p.m., investigators found Bell dead on the bank of Merrimack River in the area of River Road in Franklin. Officials said he appeared to be bleeding from his neck.

An autopsy is scheduled on Sunday to confirm the cause of Bell's death, according to officials.

No other information is known at this time.
