BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) — Gann Academy, an independent Jewish high school in Waltham, was named state champion of the Massachusetts Bar Association's 2023 High School Mock Trial Program on Wednesday morning.

Gann Academy took on Pioneer Valley Performing Arts School in South Hadley in a product liability case at the Great Hall in Faneuil Hall.

"It's an incredible program, it gives students an opportunity to prepare as if they were attorneys or witnesses," Sam Segal said.

Segal told WBZ's Brooke McCarthy the students spent months preparing for their day in court.

"It tests their skills in analyzing evidence and making arguments and even acting," Segal said. "It gives you hope I guess for the future of the legal profession."

Gann Academy received its first state title at the mock trial championship.
