GLOUCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Multiple emergencies crews in Gloucester responded to the report of a wind turbine blade falling off the main structure near Dory Road in the Blackburn Industrial Park on Sunday.

According to a statement from the City of Gloucester issued to WBZ NewsRadio, the piece of the wind turbine fell at around 7 a.m. near Applied Materials, a semiconductor and display equipment company. No injuries were reported, with the only structural damage being on the wind turbine itself, officials said.

Gloucester Fire Department and the City of Gloucester are collaborating with Applied Materials to isolate the area and determine safety concerns and hazards. Because of the size of the turbine, which stands over 400 feet tall, officials are working to ensure the safety of the turbine and surrounding area.

Great Republic Drive neighboring the turbine is indefinitely closed from the incident.

The Gloucester Police Department and Gloucester Fire Department are working to provide access to businesses on the road directing traffic through Pond Road.
