HAMPTON BEACH, New Hampshire. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A hovercraft is back on its way to Canada after it had to make an unplanned stop on New Hampshire's Hampton Beach on Saturday.

The hovercraft, once owned by the Canadian Coast Guard, was on a three-day voyage to New Brunswick when its "skirt" ripped.

New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol Sergeant Steve O'Connor said between the tear and the poor weather conditions, the hovercraft had to make an unexpected stop on Hampton Beach.

The hovercraft was on its way from Cape Cod to Portland, Maine when it had to make the stop for repairs.

Luckily, there were few people on the beach at the time the hovercraft beached due to the poor weather, Sergeant O'Connor said.

There were seven crew members on board including two Canadian Coast Guard Members.

The hovercraft was pushed back into the water on Sunday morning to continue its journey up north to its new owners, a New Brunswick diving company.
