MATTAPAN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hundreds of children gathered at Mattapan’s BCYF Mildred Avenue Community Center on Saturday for a special early visit from Saint Nick.

More than 500 children aged four to 11 received holiday gifts free of charge at the “Breakfast with Santa Toy Giveaway.” Boston-based law firm Altman Nussbaum Shunnarah donated over 1,000 toys for the event.

"It's the greatest thing in the world to be able to give back, especially with children and to see the smile and the eyes light up, it's very rewarding," Dave Altman of Altman Nussbaum Shunnarah said.

The event gives children the opportunity to get holiday presents who wouldn't otherwise be able to get one.

Royce Veal, Executive Director of Chills Diamond Ring Tournament and Educational Foundation, put on the event with Dave Altman.

"It's a terrible thing when you think about it and all we can do is make sure that we come together to help serve those that are in need," Veal said.

WBZ's Suzanne Sausville asked 7-year-old Jalissa what she wants for Christmas, "I only want my family because they are sweet and they are the best family I ever had," she replied.
