BOSTON (WBZ News Radio) — One Jamaica Plain garage smells a lot more like popcorn than gasoline.
WBZ's Matt Shearer sat down for a movie at Wenham Street Cinema based out of someone's garage.
When the weather gets warmer Matt Shuman's garage doors open revealing a projector, a couch, a popcorn machine, and a mini fridge for moviegoers. Shuman turned his garage into a movie theater eight years ago giving his neighbors a place to gather and watch movies together.
On the outside of the garage, there is a list of upcoming events written in chalk. He also hosts concerts in his garage for the community to enjoy.
Shuman told WBZ's Matt Shearer his goal is to get Boston Mayor Michelle Wu to come and join him for a movie before he packs up the projector.
"I want to give her a Wenham Street Cinema hat and then I'm going to retire," Shuman said.
